...was absolutely beautiful.
Some of my friends came up, and we couldn't have asked for better weather. We tromped around by the river again on Saturday and the time slipped by faster than we imagined it could. I also finished the banners for the teach-in on that day, and rather than having to determine whether brain cells or ventilation was more important, I spent the three hours outside painting and talking to people who passed by and were curious as to what I was doing...
Today was rather relaxing. I went up to Burlington early this morning to make it to a meeting for my trip to Tibet this summer. It was the perfect day for a drive, but I do think I got a slight burn on my face. The professor seemed rather nice, and I got the opportunity to chat with a few of the other students going on the trip. A rather eclectic bunch, but all were very interested in Buddhism or Tibet or sociology/anthropology in general, so I already have a decent amount in common with them.
I also found out that while we're there we're going to visit an orphanage and that we are allowed to bring items for the children. I'm considering collecting all of the stuffed animals I have at home and distributing those. The professor suggested everyday items, however, so I'll have to also put together a few packages with the basics: toothpaste, a toothbrush, a washcloth... I guess most of the children don't have these items. I may even try to organize a donation drive back at home before I go on the trip, depending on how hectic my schedule is preparing for the trip and working the two jobs I usually have over the summer... I hope I can find the time and the interest back at home.
On another note, I've decided that it's time to make this blog a little more interactive. Due to the wonderful weather we are having and the high spirits had by all, I figured it would be a good time to share with one another what our favorite things are. I'll give a few of my favorites, and hope that other people can leave a comment with their own.
These are a few of my favorite things:
Summer weather
Ben and Jerry's ice cream
Mountains
Hiking
Poetry (reading and writing it!)
Sunrises
Stars
My family
Friends
Long summer drives
Live music
Warm Rain
Camping
Water (rivers, lakes, ponds, even swamps are neat... I just don't like the ocean, but I'm sure there are many out there who do).
Cleaning (I love when I have the time do just clean my entire room because I feel like it)
Reading in general...
Working with young children (especially preschoolers!)
The feeling of grass and/or mud between my toes
The list extends but I'm sure everyone out there has his or her own.. please do share!
Oh. and Happy Earth Day!
