So. I attended the spring concert at my old high school last Thursday night. It was pretty neat to be in the audience for once, rather than the one with the jitters back stage. The format of the concert was a bit different than I thought it would be, as I thought it was the jazz concert, when in actuality it was the spring concert. Either way, it was good to see some old friends and acquaintances, and to see how much they've grown in the past two years.
The first half was primarily band music. There was an orchestra (I've never seen so many string players at the high school! I'm rather excited about this, as it shows that our music department is improving with the years.) Then there was the basic band and the jazz band. The second half was primarily chorus music, which consisted of basic chorus as well as select vocalists/soloists. As I used to be a member of the chorus, this was my favorite part. I also really enjoy a cappella music (it often brings me to tears? I don't know. Harmonies are amazing, especially when heard live.) I got the treat of watching this girl Kristen, who I was in chorus with for a while, do some jazz solos, too-- she has an amazing voice and is now planning on becoming a music teacher! Awesome!
I also went because two of my very good friends were involved. It was an especially important concert for them because they are both graduating next month. After the concert, I got some pictures of said beautiful people-- both of which had the opportunity to do solos.

This is a picture of the love of my life Sara! I first met her two years ago in chorus, and we've been awesome friends ever since.

This is my saxy friend Matt, (saxy because he plays the saxophone!) His friends tend to call him "Hux," a shortened version of his last name.
Afterwards, I went out for some ice cream with Hux and we caught up with one another since we rarely get the opportunity to talk when I'm at college. This may become an even larger problem once he heads out to Hofstra next fall, though I do have hopeful plans of visiting, and I hope the same goes for him. All and all, twas a fun night, and I'm really glad that my car's brakes were fixed so that I could attend.
