Memorial Day Parade

I don't know if I've previously mentioned the fact that I was a girlscout for 7 years? Well, I was, and we always marched in the Memorial Day Parade down Main Street in my home town (ooh, the good old days...). Hux was in the parade this year because he's in the marching band at the high school, so he convinced me to come along to see it. My mums and my little sis ended up coming along, as well as Dave and Sasha. We found a comfortable spot right in front of one of the restaurants on the main drag and got lots of coffee (it was a 9am parade!) and watched all the people go by. I must admit that it was a much smaller parade than I remembered when I was young, though I'm sure it may have just seemed larger to my much smaller perspective. Haha. Overall, I think we all had a decently good time, and I'm glad everyone came along.

Here's a picture of my sister being her suave patriotic self. She's so adorable.

And here are some more pictures I took:

This of course, is a picture of Hux with his saxy saxophone. Sweet deal!

There were also a number of old cars that went by. This, by far, was my favorite.

After the parade, me mums drove Dave and Sash over to Pam's house so they could hang with her for a while and my younger sister and I headed out to hang out with Hux. We went bowling, grabbed some food, and then we all promptly headed to the pool. Hux had to leave at that point, but my little sister decided to come along and splash around for my entire shift (a whole 6 hours), which I appreciated a lot more than one would think because I wasn't alone. Overall, it was an excellent way to spend a sunny Monday.

The next day, my sister begged me to go glow bowling with her sometime, and as Wednesday (May 30th) was her birthday, I agreed to take her out then. We ended up going with a friend of mine, Evan, that I have been hanging out with a lot more lately. We had a lot of fun losing to a newly 12 year old (is it sad that with bumpers both he and I managed to get no pins down at one point during the first game? Yikes. He threw his too hard and it bounced over the bumpers--mine bounced off of the bumper at such an angle it managed to slide right past all the pins. We were all laughing so ridiculously hard, so it was a good thing that practically no one else was there.) I ended up winning the second game, and Evan won the third. It was pretty awesome that it was so even and no one got the opportunity to brag too much (except, perhaps, for my sister who brags about everything-- like the fact that her shoe size is the same as mine. hahaha). We went out for ice cream after that at a place right down the road, and though I promised my mom that I would get Samantha back home at a reasonable hour, we definitely were having too much fun conversing and being ridiculous, so she wasn't home until 9 or so. Woops. My sister had a blast and thought it was especially wonderful that she got to stay up so late. Once again, a lot of fun. I really have missed being home and hanging out with my siblings and old friends. It's definitely been a different dynamic as Brent and I are no longer together, and I've found the time to get out and about with a lot of people that I wouldn't usually hang out with so much. It's a totally new and fun experience, though, and has definitely been an adventure.

So Friday night, if it doesn't rain, my friends and I are going to have another bonfire (yesh!) and Saturday is definitely going to be another Vampire night. Maybe I'll get some pictures to better show who I'm talking about (there are so many names I list off, but no faces to go along with them!) Until then, I hope everyone's summer is going well!
