My Sister's Graduation

So yesterday marked my older sister Stephanie's graduation from St. Anselm's college. She now has a bachelors and can be a real nurse (rather than an assistant)! Go her!

The entire class got up to applaud their parents, friends, and other family members for their support as they worked their way through college. My sister's the one waving at the camera/me.

Although the graduation ceremony was looong (significantly longer than GMC's might I add), I am very glad that I went. At first, we didn't know if there would be enough tickets, and since my little sister didn't want to go, I almost opted out so Steph's boyfriend could. In the end, however, my father's mother had to cancel, so Samantha hung out with friends while I saw Steph graduate.

Though it was exciting to see Steph, it was also interesting to listen to the keynote speaker, who just happened to be this guy who graduated from St. A's back in 1977 and is now one of the directors of the secret service for the United States. Surprising fact??? He had the best sense of humor out of all the speakers. And I thought secret service agents were too serious. Pfft.

Towards the end of the speakers and such, there was a musical interlude so that people could stand up and stretch (and/or so that the graduates could organize themselves to begin the process of actually handing out diplomas. I'm not entirely sure what its purpose was). During this period of time, my parents sent me on a secret mission to sneak over to where Steph was sitting and take some pictures. I ended up chilling out on the stairs in the special guests area until the graduation ceremony ended. At first, I was afraid I'd be yelled at for not being where I was supposed to be, but such was not the case! I ended up talking to one of the special guests for a while, whom I think worked at the school as she knew a majority of the graduates and was talking to them while they stood in line to get their diplomas. Rather than telling me to go away, she told me I was smart for choosing that area. Haha! The only real problem I caused was that I was right in front of the entrance to the area roped off for the media representatives covering the event. I think some of them were disconcerted that I was getting pictures as good as theirs.

Here's the first picture I got of her. I ended up sticking around and talking to her and some of the graduates nearby for a little while. They all seemed rather nice.

And here she is waiting patiently in line with the other graduates to hear her name and get that oh so important piece of paper!

This is very stereotypical of all the Ainsworth girls, but Steph has historically been the one to ruin serious pictures by sticking out her tongue. I have many family photos with all of us smiling, and her being obnoxious. She always did it because my mother freaked out, which made my sister laugh. (Honestly, it was pretty funny. Sorry Mom, but it was!)

And here she is right after she received her diploma. Ahhh, she looks proud (and so were we).

Afterwards, we all went home and had dinner with a few of Steph's friends. Nothing too big has happened yet, as we all have such busy schedules, especially with my little sister's basketball tournaments going on (I attended two games today... one of which was at 8am. On a Sunday? That's insane.) We will be having a larger party later, however, complete with bonfire and s'mores.

Well, I guess that's it for now. Other than that, I've been subbing constantly, as well as helping Steph get the pool we work at ready to be opened. So peace!
