Mmmmm. Memorial Day weekend. Yesterday marked the opening day for the pool, which essentially means crazy hours for Nicole. I've been working as a pool monitor for Timberwood Condominiums for three or four? years now. It's not a bad job-- I sit outside tanning, reading, writing, or knitting, while making sure that everyone using the pool lives in the aformentioned condominium complex and that no one breaks any of the rules. I am not an official lifeguard (otherwise they'd have to pay me more!) so I don't legally have to save any lives, either (although I made it pretty close to being a licensed life guard with the lessons I used to take, so I guess I could if I had to.) The only real issues with the job are a) if it rains a lot, I don't get paid a lot and b) it can get pretty boring after a while, which is particularly difficult for me because I tend to get bored rather quickly. As in, I can hardly watch a movie without needing to get up and do something else for a while. I really don't know what it is.
My sister, Stephanie, has been working at the pool for a couple more years than I, and since the manager from last year moved to another state, she has taken the position over. This essentially means that she is my boss. This has its perks (she is more willing to allow me to take weird week to two week periods off during the summer, like I have to do for Tibet, without firing me!), but at the same time, when she needs a favor... I work for her. I really can't complain, though, because she's helped me keep my wages higher than the other workers. Oh yesh!

Here's a picture of my sister with her new dog, Lennex, sitting in the pool house. He's so cute!
And here are some other pictures of the pool I work at:

Here's a decent view of the pool house. One of my responsibilities is to make sure no one destroys it, as it is used for special occasions and has a lot of cool stuff in it (a mini library and a kitchen, as examples).

Right here I was just messing around with the camera. There's a tree that bends almost completely over the fence around the pool and I thought the color contrast looked neat.

Once again. Just a neat view.
After work at the pool yesterday, Sasha, Dave, and some of my friends from home (Brian, Evan, Pam, Brent, Jess, Karl, and Payton... I think that was it?) all decided to hang out. We were over Brent's at first, but his father was a little grumpy from us all being over there, so we decided to go to this section of land that (we believe) belongs to Clough State Park, but it's all sand and dead wood. Although no one really knows who the land belongs to, people in the surrounding neighborhood have fires there all the time. As such, we randomly decided that we were going to have a fire and we hung out there for a while and just sort of chilled out, talked, watched the stars, and got lost in the woods surrounding the sand pit. It was a LOT of fun. I've never really done something like that before.
Well, that's about it for now. Tune in soon for some updates about the Memorial Day Parade (this upcoming Monday), and my little sister's birthday (this upcoming Wednesday). Should be a full week!
