Departed Days

Things have been muchos chaotic in the past few weeks: as I've mentioned before, I've two jobs going right now (some days I'm working about 12 hours!), I am trying to prepare for Tibet by getting all my reading/notes done & getting the appropriate shots (why is the traveling clinic never open?) & trying to track down my passport so I can get my Chinese visa (it came in on Monday... FINALLY.) , and I'm also trying to work things out with my ex, which has turned out to be much more difficult than I thought it would be. Oh yeah. And I'm blogging! And trying to have fun!

Working things out with the ex boyfriend (who also happens to be my best friend...) has made me nostalgic lately, as I've started considering all the memories him and I have shared together. We've had a lot of great times, a lot of not so great times... I'm reminded of the opening lines of A Tale of Two Cities:
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,
it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness,
it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity,
it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness,
it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair,
we had everything before us, we had nothing before us...

Oh Dickens certaintly knew what was up-- life and people are so dualistic.

The latest entry by my fellow blogger Joe has also put me in a nostalgic mood-- and this mood just happens to go with the pictures I have for tonight's entry. It's weird how things tie together.

After hearing how hectic things were going between my ex and I, one of my friends (who also happens to be an ex) stopped by my house yesterday to see how I was doing. We chatted for a while about all our issues, etc, and eventually I meandered over to his house. I seriously haven't been over there in the past four years, as it was four years ago when we actually dated. It was so bewildering to be sitting in the same spot in that old house with Toby in his same spot and us in such different places in our lives. God. Four years. How the world has changed. For good old times' sake, we even sipped some chia tea on his porch and talked about life-- we used to do this all the time back when we were dating, and those moments were some of the best we ever had. It was really nice to reenact them.

We also wandered around this dirt road that runs parallel to his road and the river that goes through his home town. Toby lives in a town that is seriously called New Boston, even though it has no resemblance to the city it was named after. The majority of the roads in New Boston aren't paved, there are very few people living there, and there are farms EVERYWHERE. I personally love it.

It had just rained (read: there were crazy thunderstorms for the past three days) before we wandered around. Consequently, I went crazy over taking pictures of the rain drops that hadn't soaked into anything yet. So cool looking.

Here's another.

Here's the river we were by.

This rock just amazed me, as it seemed like it was hovering in the middle of nowhere and there was very little erosion on one side. Toby and I think that someone moved it... which makes the rock even more fascinating.

Here's Toby being ridiculous (I told him to look serious... but he can never stop joking and smiling. And people wonder why I miss him so much when at GMC?) Oh. And did I mention I'm going to be his son's godmother (his son is due in September)? Yeah. Love this kid!

And I finally got a serious picture out of him. I've been getting into the habit of taking really cool pictures of my friends, and am trying to setup a photoshoot with one of them, too. I don't know why, but I'm getting into this photo phase... but I think it's a good thing.

That's it for now. More to come regarding the bonfire this weekend for my sister's graduation party!
