Sleep is for the weak...

just joking. But I did just pull an all nighter over my friend's house, partially so I could sleep the majority of today away and consequently survive the next day and a half of traveling, and partially to get accustomed to the time difference. I was warned that all nighters weren't that much fun, but despite the mere four hours of sleep I managed to score yesterday, I enjoyed my time immensely, as Brent and I discussed and compared Buddhism and Celtism for the majority of the time. Quite interesting. A very informative all nighter.

But that is not the point.

I BEGIN THE JOURNEY TO TIBET IN EXACTLY 12 HOURS!!!!!

Yes. That's right. In exactly 12 hours I will be leaving for Boston with my ninja warriors (read: my two best friends Toby and Brent) to catch a 2am bus to NYC. Not only will said ninja warriors supply emotional support as I begin my journey, but they will also utilize their warrior skills to protect me from what I can only imagine a bus station at 2am in Boston can offer. (Let me say now that although my parents don't necessarily agree with the outward appearance of my two best friends, their semi-sketchy exteriors and obvious physical strength comes in handy. Especially for a 5'3" 20-year-old female who decides to take a bus out of Boston at 2am. Yeah. My parents aren't complaining now.)

Once on said bus, I will venture for another 7 hours through the streets of Massachusetts and Connecticut, making my way ever so slowly to the big old NYC. Once there, I'll have a little time to relax before I have to catch another hour bus ride (depending on traffic. It's literally only 20 minutes away from the airport, but... NYC is NYC, isn't it?) over to JFK, the international airport. At that point, the plan is to get utterly lost in that gigantic place as I try to locate my professor.

Once I've found him, I get to relax in some black leather chairs for a while as we wait for the rest of the students to show up at 12:30pm. We will then all get checked in together, at which point, we must spend another three hours being searched and researched and searched again because... we're going on an international flight. And then? Once on board, we all get to pretend that 12 1/2 hours in the same cramped seat isn't painful as we fly over the North Pole and Russia (read: over the globe!) to Beijing, where our heavenly hotel awaits our arrival and a collapsed Nicole.

The over the globe thing is what I'm really excited about, and the main reason I decided to try and alter my sleeping habits. I definitely do NOT want to miss that because I'm sleepy. Man, it's going to be amazing. And I'm going to be sooo tired... but I'm going to see a polar ice cap! I will! And Russia's going to look soo cool that sleep will be the last thing on my... *yawn* I hope. How expensive is coffee over the Arctic Ocean?

So. Needless to say, I'm a bundle full of nerves and energy. My ninja warriors will get me safely to Boston, but after that, it's all me and my cool cat ways. Hopefully I'll successfully navigate my way through NY alone. I feel like I've visited it enough that I know my way around, and things should be ok. Plus, my friend's letting me borrow his cell phone, so I have a way to actually communicate with people just in case...

I'm still in shock that I'm even going. This all seems like a dream... (or that could just be the sleep deprivation talking...)

Anyways. Enough with the rambling. I need to finish packing and go sleep a little before the adventure begins. It may be a while before I can update this, as I don't know the next time I'll be near a computer. But when I get back, I promise TONS of pictures of MAGNIFICENT things. PROMISE.

Until then, as my roommate would say: "peace out brussel sprout!"
