Thanksgiving Break

Managed to get decently healthy before break, which was quite the exciting accomplishment for me. I don't remember the last Thanksgiving I had without a severe sinus infection. Yay to that.

I also managed to get a ride HOME for break, which was yet another accomplishment. Initially, a couple friends of mine were supposed to come up, spend Monday night chilling with the GMC crew, and then bring Brent and I home sometime Tuesday evening. It all seemed a go--one of said friends has been up here before, fits in quite well, and is planning on attending next semester (I CAN'T WAIT!) and another of said friends is just a really good person I've been getting very close to lately, who has yet to meet the GMC crew, but will eventually, and will LOVE them, I'm sure. Unfortunately, plans got changed slightly, so they were going to come up Tuesday morning. And then it was raining and snowing and gross and cold. So we didn't know when we'd get a ride...

but they eventually showed up around 8pmish. When they arrived, they notified us that they had only decided to get us at the last second, and had actually called Brent's house in hopes that one of his parents would come get us... but Brent's parents never listen to their messages, so evidently, we would have been abandoned without even knowing it had they not decided to come get us.

Cool.

This is how delighted I was when they arrived:

hahaha. I love that picture...

After that nonsense, we drove to a friend's house and spent the night there chilling with some of our other homebuddies. One of said homebuddies (Jess) had a camera, and she was rather excited about getting pictures of everyone there.... so I got a bunch of photography for this entry that required no effort on my part. Delicious.

Here's a picture of said homebuddy Jess (on the left) and other homebuddy Nia (she was one of the ones who drove us home).

Yes. They are in a hottub in November. I don't know if y'all have ever tried that, but the combination is unrealistically awesome.

Meanwhile, I was inside playing a little pool with the boys (and beating them, I might add).

And I'm not quite sure what we're doing in this picture...

Whatever it is, I'm sure there's some sort of explanation.

Right.

And here's Payton, our resident philosopher/a future GMC student.

The picture of his face is a little blurry because the camera's focused on the landscape behind him, but I think it works well.

And you can't forget this picture (let's just say I'm NOT a morning person and my friends make fun of this characteristic often. I will admit, though, it CAN be comical).

So that was the first two days. We didn't leave Jess's house until late afternoon on Wednesday, and since she lives in the Lakes Region in NH, I didn't get back home until almost dark. But boy, was it SWEET to be home. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I was back again.

Once there, I caught up with the good old fam and then went clothes shopping with my older sister for the first time in 2 ½ years (basically... since being at college). I generally HATE shopping and avoid it at all costs, but the majority of my clothing had holes in it, so I figured it was time to upgrade. What an adventure that was. But I got some really nice stuff and for good prices, too. Thank you almost-Christmas sales. You rock. (Oh. and so does the sister. She's the only one to this day that I will actually go shopping with. I'm not quite sure if it's a learned or inherent skill... but she makes shopping quick, cheap, and... endurable.)

Oh. And she has a cute kid. Check this out for adorable.

And of course, here he is with his 12-year-old Auntie. My goodness, what odd and yet irresistably cute circumstances!

Now this picture, taken by the Auntie seen above, shows a not so irresistably (yet still pretty cute) Auntie (me) with the little 2-monther.

Ahh, but I must depart. I'll complete my ramblings of collegial Thanksgivings later, after I've procured some of the much-needed antidote for this yawning plague I've recently acquired. Hahaha. Goodnight, then.
