So another weekend down here at the GMC. Cold and windy as it was, fun was still had by all, especially since four of my friends from home came up to visit! One was a total surprise for us--Mike just randomly showed up on Friday night after becoming "too bored" back home. The hilarious part about it was that we weren't even on campus at the time, so he showed up and started hanging out with some of the people we had introduced to him the last time he was "bored" and showed up at campus. Crazy. (As a side note, I'm not a very spontaneous person, so really anyone who will make a three hour drive just to hang out with his/her friends for a couple hours is crazy to me. But in a good way!)
And of course, we can't forget Karl and Jess...

(Seriously intense videogamers, eh?)
Or the Evan... though I'm lacking a decent picture of him because he, like my older sister, refuses to let people take normal pictures of them.
On another note, I did end up auditioning for Ariel Dorfman's "Speak Truth to Power" (based on the book of the same name) after all. I don't have any results from that yet, but I feel that I did fairly well. :) I hope so, anyway--one of my goals before I leave GMC is to be in one of the school's plays. I was in drama all throughout high school, so I kinda miss the scene. Hopefully I'll get something in this one, else I'll just have to try next semester.
I'm also rather impatiently awaiting the results from the V-day auditions. (Impatiently only because I'm stoked about what monologues I may have and the people who are going to be in this production are wonderful examples of human beings.) Seriously, though, we're all eccentric, nerdy, cool cats, and though we're slightly distracted when together, we have a lot of fun. I seriously CAN'T wait for this! It is going to be fabuloso!
And then there's... Saturday movie mornings. I'm seriously working my butt off right now to get this project on its feet, but no one's getting back to me, so it's becoming a little difficult. Hopefully things will get resolved today and I can start publicizing the event tomorrow. Else, I may have to push it back a week (not a huge loss, but still kind of disappointing). Either way, when it does happen, a lot of fun will be had by all.
Well, I think that's about it right now. I've also been mighty busy with a paper on whether or not grammar should be taught in schools today, which naturally involves defining the term "grammar." You would be amazed at how abstract this term is, even in the educational and/or linguistic fields. After reading into it, my thesis has changed slightly: I now do realize the inherent importance of grammar in schools, I just think that teachers should take an applied approach over the more theoretical approach (memorizing prepositions, etc) that we see in today's schools. I will update as I look into it.
Until next time, peace!
